War by the Shore changed Ryder Cup forever

In 1991, the Ryder Cup reached a new level. Whether it was a higher or lower level is still up for debate 25 years later.  Even before the first tee shot, the U.S. vs. Europe matchup was billed as the War by the Shore, a bit of ballyhoo more fit for pro wrestling than civilized golf. Yet it lived up to the hype.
